Independence & ownership

CannaBizGuide is independently owned and operated. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or financially dependent on any cannabis operator, testing lab, law firm, CPA firm, or trade association. Listings in our directory are never paid and cannot be bought.

Data sourcing

  • Testing labs are sourced directly from state cannabis regulatory agencies (California DCC, Oregon OLCC, Colorado MED, Michigan CRA, and 17 other state licensing authorities). We refresh this data on a regular cadence and remove inactive labs.
  • Professionals (CPAs, attorneys, consultants, insurance brokers) are compiled from publicly available directories, professional association rosters, published credentials, and direct submissions. We verify state licensing where practical.
  • State regulatory data (license counts, regulator names, rulemaking) is sourced from each state's official cannabis control board website. Where data ages, we link to the primary source so readers can confirm current figures.
  • News is based on reporting from primary and industry sources (MJBizDaily, Marijuana Moment, Cannabis Business Times, state regulator press releases). Our article summaries and analysis are original and we link to the source material.
